Self-Seeker :

  • Look out for ripples to locate invisible lights and send your soul to search for them while avoiding the obstacles. Touch a target to make another one appear in the room ( 6 possible locations ).

Controls ( mouse/touchpad and keyboard ):

  • Move mouse cursor to aim
  • Left click to shoot
  • Right click to shoot further
  • Press Space to recall soul instantly ( the soul is by default recalled when still but it may take longer than intended, so use this for instant recall )

"In a dream, find what makes me... me. My origin, my inner self."

or : a fancy tagline for what is just my first game dev experience.  ( The idea was that you don't know who you are in life yet, so you're chasing your inner self, trying to find the elements that make you who you are. Reaching out with your soul to be someone, to be yourself. )

Made within 5 days of doing coding for the first time and 3 days of using GameMaker Studio 2 also for the first time. Also my first game jam experience ( itch.io Mini Jam 148: Connections ). If you were wondering why it's crude and basic, that'll be why !

All in all, even if I just barely didn't make it in time, I'm pretty proud of this, especially considering the circumstances this was made in ! Hip hip hurray to my first coding creation ! ( And thank you so much to TripleCubes for helping me out with the custom functions and physics. I literally couldn't have made this otherwise. )

Very impressive for a first game. It is very nice visually, as well. But to have a goal for gameplay or challenge, you can add a timer so that you have to get to all targets before the timer runs out or something. So that there is an incentive to play and a way to win or lose. It would also help with replayability, since people will replay trying to get faster times. Anyway, amazing game and good luck on your game dev journey!

Thank you so much for the kind words !! <3

If not for the jam's limitation I might've gone with another idea that did have a timer in it ! But I didn't, and I haven't dabbled in drawing text on screen in GMS2 yet, so for now I don't know how ! I was planning on adding some kinda progression in the future though, different level aesthetics and stuff, different ways to get to the targets and different ways to tell where they are... I hope I can get to that ! For now I'm just very tired so I'll take a rest ( I slept all day today even, hence the late reply ).

Again thank you for the comment, it means a lot to me !! TTvTT
